BSNL recruitment for junior telecom officer

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) of Tamilnadu Circle has invited applications for 4 Junior Telecom Officers (JTO) under Special Recruitment Drive (SRD-2013) for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The candidates would have to undergo a competitive examination to be held on 23 November 2014.

Details of Post

• Name of Posts: Junior Telecom Officers (JTO)
• Number of Posts: 04 Posts (Reserved for PWD Candidates).

Educational Qualification

The candidates should have a Bachelor of Engineering/ Bachelor of Technology or equivalent Engineering Degree in any of the following disciplines from any recognized engineering college/ University.

I. Telecommunication

II. Electronics

III. Radio

IV. Computer

V. Electrical

VI. Information Technology

VII. Instrumentation

VIII. Industrial Electronics

Pay Scale: Rs. 16400-40500, along with HRA, Perks, Medical Benefits etc. payable as per company rules.

Age Limit

The candidates should not be more than 30 years of age for the post of JTOs. Though there are relaxations on upper age as per Government of India instructions:-

I. For PWD candidates the relaxation in upper age is 10 years, 15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC candidates.

II. Ex-service men would get upper age limit benefits as per central government rules.

III. For Ex- BSNL employees the upper age-limit relaxation is 5 years.

How to Apply

• Eligible Candidates may apply through prescribed application format and designated application form.
• Application form duly filled, Two unattached and two attached passport size photographs, two self-addressed unstamped envelopes of 27x12 cms size, Relevant medical certificates proving the candidate physically handicapped and  other relevant certificates should be addressed to “The AGM(Rect & Estt), O/o the CGM Telecom, BSNL, Tamilnadu Telecom Circle, No- 16, Greams Road, Chennai – 600 006” before 5 September 2014.
• Candidates should clearly mention “Application for J.T.Os (Telecom) Examination -2013 for PWD” on the top of the envelope containing the Application form and other relevant documents.
• There would be no fees for PWD candidates applying for the post. The candidates belonging to SC/ST category would be entitled to get TA for appearing in the examination on 23 November 2014.

Selection Process

The candidates have to undergo an open competitive examination comprising of multiple choice questions which would be of three hours in duration. The Question paper would contain the following three sections:

• Section-I: Engineering Stream: 50 questions
• Section- II: Engineering Stream: 50 questions
• Section-III: General Ability Test: 20 questions

Following 10 important points to crack the interview

• Know your skills and area of interest before going for an interview. Take some time to know your skills and area of interest. Don't just litter money to pursue useless courses. It doesn't matter what qualifications you have, what all degrees you pursue; the thing that matters is "your interest". If you think you are a good writer, go for content writing even though you are a computer engineer. Being MBA finance doesn't mean you cannot do jobs apart from finance.  
• Go through the company profile to get a brief introduction or overview about the desired company prior to interview. This will help you to answer the basic questions as in "why our company?, what do you know about are company? and so on".
• Be confident with whatever you speak or have spoken. Dont't hesitate or bring second thought. Your confidence is your entry pass to any interview, be it a corporate or matrimonial..;)
• Keep a smiling face irrespective of your mood. Do not arguee with anyone and try to control your anger in any unpleasant situation. This would be a positive impact related to your personality.
• Do not flaunt (very imp) as if you know everything. Try to be calm and act humble to respective contestants and also with the interviewer. Explain your views, knowledge and skills in a descent manner keeping your superiority outside the room. Respect the interviewer even if he is younger than you or has some flaws. Don't concentrate on his faults rather improve yours. 
• Greet the interviewer no matter who that person is (greet everyone in day-to-day life). This would flash your character in their minds. Greeting would certainly help you in maintaining sound relationships. 
• Try to maintain a friendly talk with the interviewer but don't get over friendly  as it would be in some case may feel insulting for the interviewer. Be specific and answer what you want to; irrespective of others.
• Do not change your attitude when going for the interview. Be the one who you really are in the real life. Organisations can easily catch you. They accept people with their natural personality and attitude.
• Be positive while answering. Focus more on positive points even if they are some negative points. Don't think anything during interview; whether you'll be selected or rejected...no nothing, just think that you have to be positive and present yourself without any fear. "Give interviews to gain experience and not the job" are the words of my dad. Believe me this will surely help you as did help me. 
• Do not give up even if you are rejected. Just think that there's better opportunity waiting for you. Don't forget "Sky's the limit..."
